El Gastor Andalucia Spain.





Known as the "balcon de las Pueblos Blancos", El Gastor is a typical white washed mountain village with friendly people and pretty flower lined streets. A picturesque pine forest above the village is ideal for walking, picnics, birdwatching,and photographing the rare flora and fauna.

There are several tapas bars, a restaurant, shops, bakery, a lovely village square, park, open air swimming pool, and weekly outdoor market

There are stunning views over the sierras and valleys and it is conveniently situated for visiting Ronda, walking in the Serrenia de Ronda, enjoying the Grazalema Natural Park, the Zahara - El Gastor Lake and the many surrounding white villages.

Semena Santa (Easter)

This is a fascinating time when religious icons decorated with thousands of flowers are carried through the narrow streets - an amazing sight as some are very heavy and need up to 24 men to carry them, the town band playing music to accompany the processions.

Corpus Christi

6th June - A beautiful fiesta. The village is completely transformed by the people of El Gastor who decorate the streets with palms and flowers.

Summer fair and fiesta

1st/ 2nd /3rd AUGUST - A traditional fair with special activities, flamenco dancing, singing and fireworks attracing many visitors.

A festival to celebrate the Patron Saint of El Gastor

7th OCTOBER - There is a floral tribute and many traditional activities throughout the day.

Other village fiestas include

  • A Carnival at the end of February
  • St.Valentines Day – 14 February
  • December / January: Christmas, New Year celebration.

Many fiestas include the ‘Flaming Carnival bull!!!‘, difficult to translate, but exciting to watch ‘Toro de fuego’.
